BACKGROUND
Ideation Sketches
I was tasked with helping come up with the brand identity of an up and coming design team, Waterloo Reality Labs, who focus on researching technologies about VR/AR.
Throughout the ideation process, I was really inspired by how the circuit parts they used during VR/AR development looked, and wanted to incorporate them heavily throughout the design. One idea that came up was an idea of a “circuit city” where buildings could show how circuits come together to form a system.
This was the very first sketch I did for this project.
Working further along, I started to define the building designs more. From this, I started working on a composition to make the assets look cohesive together.
Using Adobe Illustrator, I started to complete the individual building assets. The isometric perspective was definitely something tricky but cool to do!
FIRST ATTEMPT
This was my composition on trying to create a city scape with all the buildings.
I added wire roads, LED pins as “trees”, and some additional assets I made to make it feel more full and more city-like.
I also tested the assets with the design system we had already established, to ensure the typography and the colours would be cohesive with the keyart.
FINAL COMPOSITION
My teammate Spark, completed the final composition by adding in his assets he created and adding more difference in height to the buildings!
